Module #5 – Teaching Social Skills Through Play
At ages 4-8, social skills are really about getting the kids motivated to work and modify their behavior so others feel good about them, and teaching some basic play skills rather than conversation skills. Telling them doesn’t work, they need the guided experience in the context of playing these games with others. Watch me teach the kids and play the games with a group as I explain to you why I’m doing what I’m doing, and watch as the kids become more social and part of the group.
“Digital media has increasingly contributed to a decline in social skills in our society. What we used to learn on the corner lot, playing in real life with other kids, is getting lost in the world of video games and online social media.
In this groundbreaking course, Brad Mason shares his professional techniques for creating an environment of play that works with even the most socially awkward kids. At the heart of every kid is someone who craves acceptance and connectedness with others. This practical video helps guide towards that goal.”
