Mild Autism What to do

It helps to understand why they do unexpected things and have difficulty doing what is expected. If you know someone who may have mild or high-functioning autism, PDD-NOS, or Aspergers, some of their behavior may seem puzzling or even frustrating to you. As children why don’t they seek to please parents and teachers like most children? Why do they neglect to consider others sometimes? What’s up with the lack of emotional control? Why are they so focused on one interest?

Once you gain some insight as to what is different about how their brains work, then the recommended strategies to help make a lot more sense. One of the key issues impacting problem solving and tantrums involves great difficulty inhibiting a previously learned pattern by forming a new concept to address what is happening and adapt successfully.

Mild Autism What to do

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Psychological Associate, and Licensed Specialist in School Psychology, I’ve put in 30 years professionally with people on the autism spectrum. I have also authored Diagnosis Autism or Aspergers: Now What?
